Walpack Inn Grounds

The Cabin

A private retreat in the heart of the Delaware Water Gap — five minutes from the Inn.

Please read before booking Guests must be 21 or older — this policy applies to all visitors, including children and babies, both indoors and outdoors on the cabin property. Maximum 8 guests. No pets or emotional support animals. All bookings are non-refundable and date changes are not permitted after confirmation.

Located on the historic Walpack Inn grounds, the Walpack Cabin offers the perfect getaway for a relaxing retreat or weekend escape. It's a short five-minute walk from the restaurant — close enough to walk to dinner, far enough to feel completely removed from everything else.

The cabin has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, full kitchen, screened-in porch, and outdoor fire pit. It's fully equipped with heating, air conditioning, wireless internet, and TV with Netflix. We supply firewood for the fire pit.

You will have the entire cabin to yourselves for your entire stay. We do not rent to multiple groups at the same time.

"The cabin has been described by our guests as 'cozy and well-equipped' — think of it as a private country retreat with all the comforts of home."

May through October is peak season — abundant wildlife, wildflowers in the fields, and long warm evenings around the fire pit. But the cabin is magical year-round. Guests come in February just for the quiet, and waking up to snow in Walpack is one of the most remarkable mornings you can have.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Can't find your answer? Email cabin@walpackinn.com

What are your rates?
The rate is $500 per night. We require a two-night minimum for all cabin stays.
Is there a minimum stay?
Yes — a two-night minimum is required for all cabin stays.
What is your cancellation policy?
Full payment is due at the time of booking. All Walpack Cabin bookings are non-refundable, and date changes are not permitted after a booking has been confirmed. This policy applies regardless of whether the Walpack Inn Restaurant is open during your stay.
What is your 21+ policy?
Persons under the age of 21 are prohibited from occupying or visiting the cabin, both indoors and outdoors. This policy includes children and babies, with no exceptions.
Are pets or emotional support animals allowed?
No. We do not allow pets or emotional support animals at the cabin and cannot make exceptions to this policy.
Do you offer discounts for extended stays?
Yes — we offer 15% off stays of 7 nights or longer (up to 14 nights). For monthly stays of 30 nights or more, please email cabin@walpackinn.com to inquire.
How rustic is the cabin?
Less rustic than the name suggests! Think of it as a well-equipped country guest house — not camping. You will see bugs and wildlife and it will be quieter than most people are used to, but the cabin has internet, TV, air conditioning, a full kitchen, and all the comforts of home.
When is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is anytime after 3pm and before 8pm on your arrival date. We recommend arriving before dark, as the cabin can be challenging to find at night. Check-out is by 11am on your departure date. Check-in instructions are emailed after booking confirmation. We are not able to accommodate early check-in or late check-out.
Will we have the cabin to ourselves?
Yes — you will have the cabin entirely to yourselves throughout your stay. We do not rent to multiple parties at the same time. Note that you may occasionally see restaurant guests, staff, or property owners nearby, as the cabin is on the Inn's grounds.
How far is the cabin from the restaurant?
The cabin is a five-minute walk from the Walpack Inn restaurant.
Can I make dinner reservations at the Inn?
Yes — dinner reservations can be made online via Resy, available two weeks in advance. Please note that the restaurant being open is not guaranteed during your cabin stay, and we do not offer cabin refunds if the restaurant is closed.
Can I order take-out from the restaurant to eat at the cabin?
Yes — order at the main bar inside the restaurant and request your food in to-go containers. The restaurant does not accept take-out orders by phone or at the host desk. Note: alcoholic beverages may not be taken from the restaurant to the cabin due to liquor license regulations.
What amenities does the kitchen have?
The kitchen is fully stocked:
  • Appliances: full-size stove/oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, traditional coffee maker (no Keurig)
  • Supplies: pots/pans, silverware, utensils, knives, cutting board, mugs, glasses, plates, bowls
  • Provided: ground coffee, cream, assorted teas, dish soap, sponge, paper towels
Do you provide towels and linens?
Yes — we provide full-size bath towels, hand towels, washcloths, and bed linens. Please bring your own shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and toothpaste as we do not provide toiletries. Hand soap is provided in all bathrooms.
Is there a washer and dryer?
Yes — there is a compact washer/dryer and we provide laundry soap. Please wash small loads only, as the machine cannot handle large ones.
Do you supply firewood?
Yes — firewood and kindling are provided. Firewood is along the fence outside the cabin (to the right when facing the front door). Kindling is under the table on the porch. Matches are in the kitchen.
Is there internet and TV?
Yes — the cabin has wireless internet and a Smart TV with a complimentary Netflix account. Login information for both can be found on the refrigerator.
Is there parking?
Yes — there is designated parking for up to three cars directly outside the cabin, between the two pine trees.
Is cigarette smoking or vaping allowed?
Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the cabin. They are allowed on the porch and around the fire pit outside. Please dispose of cigarette butts in the garbage, not on the property.
Can I use a Walpack Inn gift card for the cabin?
No — Walpack Inn restaurant gift cards cannot be applied to cabin bookings.
Can I book the cabin as a gift for someone?
Yes — please email cabin@walpackinn.com to arrange this, as the guest will also need to sign the Cabin Rental Agreement.
When is peak season?
Generally May through October, when wildlife is abundant and weather is favorable for outdoor activities. That said, each season has its own appeal — guests come in winter specifically for the quiet and the chance of waking up to snow, which is one of the most magical experiences in Walpack.
Are there things to do nearby?
Yes — the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area offers hiking, kayaking, fishing, waterfalls, and more. See our Explore Nearby page for our full guide to the area.
Where is the nearest gas station?
We recommend filling up before arriving, as options are limited nearby:
  • Enrite Gas — Sandyston, NJ (~15 min)
  • Wally's Filling Station — Sandyston, NJ (~18 min)
  • Shell Gas — Sandyston, NJ (~18 min)
Are there grocery stores nearby?
  • Fresh Pickins — Sandyston, NJ (~20 min)
  • Dale's Market — Branchville & Blairstown, NJ (~20 min)
  • ShopRite — Newton, NJ (~25 min)
  • ACME — Blairstown, NJ (~30 min)
  • Green Life Market — Newton, NJ (~35 min) — best organic/health food options
Where can we go for breakfast or lunch?
We love The Water Wheel Cafe in Milford, PA (~25 min away) — excellent breakfast, lunch, and homemade baked goods. Call ahead to confirm hours: (570) 296-2383. Email cabin@walpackinn.com for a fuller list of nearby restaurant recommendations.
What should I bring?
Clothes, toiletries, personal items, and hiking boots or sneakers. Bug spray for summer, a rain jacket year-round, and warm layers for fall and winter. We recommend bringing food for breakfasts and lunches on days you won't be dining at the Inn — the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking.

What Our Guests Say

★★★★★

We had an amazing time, everything couldn't have been more perfect! We enjoyed our stay at the cabin, so cozy and well appointed, we're sure to be back. The food at the Inn was fabulous, best NY strip steak, so good I had it two nights! Thanks so much.

★★★★★

I recently rented the cabin and have to say it is one of the best getaways. The beds were more comfortable than mine at home. The house and linens smell of downy fresh. Fresh flowers were displayed which left a beautiful aroma. The cabin is fully equipped. The atmosphere is peaceful. I enjoyed reading on the porch and even staying indoors as the windows shared all the beauty of nature surrounding the cabin. The restaurant and service was outstanding. It's a must-have experience!!

Jim, I would like to take the time to thank you, Jenny and the staff for a wonderful weekend at the Inn. It was my girlfriend and my first time and we had an incredible experience. Everyone was so helpful from the time we first made the reservation to the time we checked out. The cabin was spacious, tastefully furnished, and well kept. We had a very cozy weekend enjoying the accommodations and the surrounding grounds which were beautiful. Both of us loved our experience at the Walpack Inn. We will definitely be back.
